I am very close to finishing the project that’s due next. This is good, because it had been due the 17th, but the editor cut her vacation short so now I have to get it in on the 10th. Monday.

I am so close, I can see the end. I can stretch out my arm and almost touch it.

After this one, one more to go.

I have learned this much from my summer: Money is not worth your sanity, your health, your happiness, your every weekend, your dreams. I know there will be consequences, but I don’t want to do this anymore.

  1. Get that project done, kid, then give yourself a small treat for the achievement. I’m a big believer in that–whenever I get a small stipend for my work, I make sure to buy myself a book or CD or DVD that’s been on my “wishlist”. I know it’s the equivalent of throwing a dog a tasty snack for not fouling the rug but, I’m telling you, it works…

  2. I hate to be a party pooper but I must say that, on the other hand, starting a more frugal lifestyle now, when you first get the check, will stretch it out so that you can think of it as every dollar you don’t spend is buying you more time to write. But that’s just me, and I get depressed a lot, so it may not be the best way to live your life.
